Sustainable tech giant myenergi pledges its support for Horizon Youth Zone!

myenergi is pledging its support for the town’s young people by partnering with Horizon Youth Zone as a Founder Patron.

As a Founder Patron, myenergi will contribute towards the charity’s annual running costs, which will enable the new Youth Zone to offer first class facilities, opportunities and support for thousands of young people living in North East Lincolnshire.

Once opened, Horizon will be an independent charity with a private sector-led board. It will be part of the OnSide Network of 15 Youth Zones nationwide, supporting more than 55,000 young people annually. Youth Zones are open to young people aged between eight and 19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs), seven days a week, for just 50p a visit. Young people who sign up will have access to an indoor climbing wall, four-court sports hall, training kitchen, music room with a recording studio, fully-equipped gym, dance and drama studio, 3G kick pitch, arts and crafts room, and enterprise and employability suite.

In addition to these incredible facilities, trained youth workers and dedicated volunteers will be available seven days a week to offer guidance and holistic support to help Grimsby’s young people to thrive. The Youth Zone will create permanent full and part-time jobs, as well as many volunteering opportunities.

The partnership was formed after the myenergi team visited HideOut Youth Zone in Manchester and were so inspired by what it offered, they wanted to help bring the same opportunities to the young people of North East Lincolnshire.

Ranked 30th in the top 100 list of the UK’s fastest-growing companies (FEBE Growth 100), myenergi is a pioneer in the sustainable energy tech sector. Its products aim to help customers harness the energy they generate in the home to create a cyclical and sustainable energy supply. Founded in Grimsby in 2016, myenergi is now an international company, with subsidiaries in Australia, Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

myenergi has a learning and development programme that benefits both staff and young people. ‘myenergi academi’ works with schools, colleges and universities with informative sessions on all things myenergi, and the green-tech industry, showcasing the opportunities available within the renewables sector.

On the new partnership, Jordan Brompton, co-founder and CMO of myenergi, said: “At myenergi, we made a commitment to support our fantastic community in any way we can. Horizon Youth Zone will offer a safe and stimulating space for young people to thrive while at the same time creating jobs and volunteer opportunities, and we couldn’t be more delighted to be giving them our ongoing support. The OnSide team are doing such amazing work and they truly make us proud to be Grimbarians.”

Horizon Youth Zone Chair, Jason Stockwood, commented on the partnership with myenergi  saying: “I am hugely grateful to myenergi for partnering with Horizon as a Founder Patron. It is a company that is committed to supporting and showcasing the local Grimsby community, and this partnership further demonstrates this.”

Lucy Ottewell-Key, Horizon Youth Zone’s CEO, said of the partnership: “We’re extremely thankful to myenergi for their generous support of Horizon Youth Zone. Their involvement plays a crucial role in supporting us to create positive opportunities for children and young people across North-East Lincolnshire. To create a safe and inclusive environment where every child and young person can discover their passion, unlock their potential, find their purpose, have fun, and raise their ambitions.”

Like all Youth Zones in the Network, Horizon has a Young People’s Development Group (YPDG), which is a group of local young people who meet weekly with youth workers, developing their skills through tailored experiences, and who help make key decisions that will shape what the Youth Zone will become. Recently the YPDG has been part of an exchange trip with young people from the town of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Both groups of young people spent a week visiting each other’s towns, taking part in activities ranging from a community clear up to a trip to the State House in the US, to a trip to the Houses of Parliament and a guided tour of York in the UK.

Horizon Youth Zone is being delivered in partnership with OnSide, North East Lincolnshire Council and supported by several businesses and philanthropists. The Founder Patron campaign aims to achieve long-term sustainability, to ensure Horizon Youth Zone will be an asset to the community, transforming young people’s lives for generations to come.

Horizon continues to focus on raising a growing family of Founder Patrons and urges local businesses and philanthropists to join the Founder Patron family.

Horizon Youth Zone is due to open in late Autumn of 2025.
